I don't know what happens anymore in Congressional offices, but back in the day, Ramstad used to get briefed on the issues that Constituents came to us with the most... both pro and anti-partisan. Jim was rare, however, in that he tried to represent the district, not the party, even back then... was why the guy basically ran unopposed in Congress for 20 years (and this was back before the hard core Gerrymandering.)
There are countless reasons for members of Congress to boycott what will know doubt be another Trump bonanza on Tuesday, starting with his involvement with Epstein. It is ESPECIALLY because of Epstein representatives refuse to attend.

The majority of ordinary folks "out there" are not getting any true reporting of the Mad Toddler King's low national polling around 37%, nor do they hear how he and the US are now seen as enemies by our enduring partners. The world laughs at him, but the MSM just shows the performative, costumed, makeup-encrusted, bubble-wrapped version of a dying blob of a malignant narcissist. So let them see who doesn't show up! Unless the MSM cuts off the empty seats, which they might well do regardless.
The not showing up/walking out gesture, in politics or diplomacy, can easily come across as empty and simply leave the field whole and entire for the other side to do what it will. Have seen that happen too often.
