Thank you for continually showing what kind of State we are living in now. I do appreciate the legal analysis and expertise, even as I also know that nothing - absolutely nothing will be done against anyone participating in these abuses, and if anything gets to SCOTUS they will find a way to say it’s all above board.
One thing that may come out of this is this may be the trigger that makes Trump start kicking NGOs out of the US Russia-style.
I remember the first news I read about the Alligator Alcatraz extermination camp: the Trump administration was selling merchandise! It was disgusting; not even the Nazis sold souvenirs from Mauthausen. All this while making jokes about inmates being eaten by alligators.
Then the news in September about Hyundai workers who were supposed to teach Georgian redneck how to work in the plant under construction: arrested, deported, tortured, with the Korean government organizing emergency flights to repatriate their citizens, welcomed just like the victims of Unit U731, survived heroes.
Amnesty International certifies a situation that the Trump administration has been boasting about making even worse for months.
I know you already have a substack dedicated to how to escape what the US has become; I hope you succeed.
Thank you for this article, for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Then there is also the 3rd country deportations. This makes Stalin look like Mr Roger's. May we all find the resources and strength like Papillion to escape our own Devil's Island. To them I say: We are still here you fascist bastards.
But but but, we've had black sites since at least 9/11. The current administration just uses the absolute worst of them now which is supposed to spread FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) amongst the population. Back in the day, no one feard such sites unless you were Muslim. Today, however, American citizens can be shipped off or disappeared to those sites, and few, if any, can or will do anything about it. Don't see too many liberals calling for a J6, and probably none would take part in that kind of activity. The Republicans and wingers are the ones always pulling out their weapons to mask their tiny dicks, as if to say they are all powerful with their unmodified pop guns and small boxes of ammunition. The ones they really fear are people like the Tsarnovs who almost took down an entire city. A few fear the lone wolves or those hidden in the shadows (Luigi) waiting for the dog whistles or their dogs to summon them to act. Mostly though, the oligarchs have always feared the pitchforks coming for them. There was a video long ago about why they are buying and refurbishing missile silos, and one of them said it was because one day the people will have had enough of them and their ways and come directly at them, which is why they bought these underground homes which would protect them from the people.
A Democratic J6 is possible but sadly horrible things happening to a small minority has never led a population to overthrow a government (which January 6 was an attempt to do.)
A Democratic/anti-MAGA J6 would be triggered by a refusal of the administration to recognize uncontroversial election results. Kind of a funhouse mirror version of the original. (Note that this is the Casus Belli in Garland’s “Civil War.”) And it would look very different from the Republican one, with dozens, if not hundreds of dead civilians. Tens of millions would be immediately radicalized.
Maybe it would succeed, maybe (probably) not; hope it doesn’t come to that.
Need to be trumpeting this. MSM should be leading with the Amnesty report detailing torture in the Alligator Alcatraz. We re living in a foreign country, after all. If it was any other country it would be top news. Why the self-censorship? Follow the money.
We all knew this is what tRump 2.0 would look like, including the spineless complicity of the GOP, Supreme Court, and governors like De Satanis. When it comes to accountability, it will take decades to unwind this latest iteration of the country's dark side.
The irony -- that "the worst of the worst" are DHS hires rather than arrestees -- is overwhelmed by the horror of conditions at facilities not overseen by any competent authority. Totally incomprehensible in the society we grew up with. Doesn't sound any better in the German: unverstaendlich.
I live in Florida. I told my son when they built that monstrosity, that it would undoubtedly be a Nazi-like death camp. And I stand by that assertion. 1,800 humans have already vanished off their records. It’s as if they never existed. I can only assume they are dead.
I don't see how the US ever recovers from this considering the remedies lay with our dysfunctional Congress, a thoroughly corrupt Supreme Court and an electorate that has no more idea of how their government is supposed to work than the man in the moon. When the history of this period is written it will note American democracy was destroyed by the its own people who elected a man they knew to be corrupt, knew incited an insurrection and was impeached twice yet voted for anyway because they thought he would actually do something about the price of groceries.
Are we destined for mass De-citizenship or worse? Once birthright goes, then next is blood right, then what (?) whomever is in charge votes you off the island?
Forced to buy a Golden Visa from the country that you were born in, paid taxes to, and then disavowed you and could be revoked at anytime because "why not?" or else seek asylum elsewhere?
I get that this whole magop potus thing is a money heist but it has no escape plan. It seems to have no plan at all except to distract with absurdity and cruelty and embezzle behind the publicity stunts.
This is at once shocking and not surprising. And the lack of discussion in mainstream media is also shocking and unsurprising. Flipping back and forth between these emotions seems to cancel them out into a sort of dull self induced amnesia.
Fantastic piece, with very deep and well-written analysis. I have read all the cases that you have cited (for some of the cases that I have fought - for other persons); it clearly shows the erosion of civil rights - especially, unlawful - and unconstitutional - seizure (and detention). This degradation will stop, unless and until We the People kill it. Now, who is going to "bell the cat"?
It would have been good to read lengthy excerpts from the Amnesty International report here, detailing specific instances alongside the included explanation of the law.
Some asked me about the report itself... you can find it here: https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2025/12/estados-unidos-nuevas-investigaciones-revelan-violaciones-de-derechos-humanos-en-los-centros-de-detencion-de-alligator-alcatraz-y-krome-en-florida/

Sitting in a parking lot reading this, and it makes me want to cry.

Update there's people missing from the death camp and no one know (or is responsible) this

The renditions to CECOT and whatnot, I previously wrote about.
Patently illegal in how they executed it... potentially lawful (for immigrant detention only)...
We actually had workable agreements with Mexico, for a while, to hold people seeking asylum in the US... when they were transiting through Mexico.
But the things we're doing now? Yeah. They're unlawful renditions. They are violations of non-refoulement. Straight up.
And again, the Amnesty piece hedged its bet with the U.S. during the GWOT... it did not do so in that latest report.
What do you think of the newly released 2025 National Security Strategy?

This report is 2 days old, and except for a few local FL outlets and Axios, silence from national news.
Ok, I read it. Now I have to read the Amnesty report to see what you’re talking about. I’ve already seen some of it here on Substack
This will be (I hope) the next towering scandal that the media HAD BETTER make clear to Americans. Only sunlight can kill this infection.

the "no escape plan" makes the perps work for a permanent protected position in the new regime. Using terror as a tool.

Jesus. No longer a slow slide or “slippery slope” bullshit. We are neck deep in authoritarian quicksand.
