I'm deeply honored that you recommended Timeless & Timely. My writing is neither pithy nor trendy, but I aim to pierce those universal human truths that have driven us forward for centuries. If a few more people can appreciate that by slowing down and reflecting a bit instead of rushing from platform to platform with their virtual hair on fire, then I'll be happy.

Thanks so much for the clear, cogent, and beautiful writing here on TLM that helps us understand our present. It's a treat to read something so insightful from a like-minded thinker.

Is anyone writing a substack on planning for an economic depression? Besides planting a garden and storing beans and rice, what else can we do now? What if we don't have a "cool" storage area? Lately I've been asking myself "What would grandma do?" But a few more details would be nice.

There are, oddly enough, books about how to cook and live during the Great Depression. I've also started seeing YouTube videos about those things.

I honestly don't think it's going to be that bad. My own thoughts are -1.5% (contraction) over the next 18 months (roughly five quarters).

If you haven’t already, pick up two books: “Back to Basics” by Abigail Gehring, and “The Encyclopedia of Country Living” by Carla Emery. They are classics with a wealth of information. “The Backyard Homestead” by Carleen Madigan is also good, and www.thegrownetwork.com is very useful. All of these will give you a solid footing. Good luck!

William, I am a retired lawyer who once advised international banks and corporations. I write on the causes of economic and equality from that perspective. I post my draft chapters on Substack. Here is one from the overview section. https://jandweir.substack.com/p/understanding-the-fury-in-america

Here is the beginning of the section on banking showing why it is just as vulnerable after Dodd Frank reforms as it was before— and why that benefits the bankers.

I would appreciate any feedback.
