TLM Expands – New Voices, More Depth, You Help Choose
Who Should Write for TLM? Help Me Find the Next Great Voice
A New Chapter for The Long Memo – Guest Authors Are Coming
Something new is brewing at The Long Memo…
Starting in March, I’ll be bringing in guest authors to contribute.
I think you’ll like their work. I know I do.
I’m aiming to get things rolling in mid-March. I’ve already contacted a few writers, and it’s coming together. But I know there are more great voices out there, and I want your help finding them.
Who I’m Looking For
Not the prominent names. They’re great, but they don’t need anyone’s amplification. (If anything, I’d need theirs. LOL!)
I’m after undiscovered gems—sharp, original writers who deserve a broader audience. They don’t have to sound like me or write about politics (though many will). If they cover economics, law, history, culture, art, or even food, and they’re damn good, I want to know about them.
How You Can Help
Nominate an author you love. Here’s what to send me:
✅ Their Substack (or another place they publish)
✅ A sentence or two on why their work is great
✅ Send via DM (best way to keep it organized)
Self-nominations? Totally fine. There is no shame in self-promotion.
What’s in It for You?
The first 20 subscribers each month (including now through Friday) who send recommendations get a free 1-month comp, even if their author declines. (You don’t control that—I get it.)
If your recommended author contributes to The Long Memo, you get a 6-month comp.
Every month, I’ll publish two “Referrals” lists—one with your nominations and one with my editorial picks, giving these writers more visibility.
This is about expanding the conversation at The Long Memo. I know I have one of Substack's sharpest, most engaged readerships. Let’s use that.
👉 Send me your picks.
Let’s make TLM something truly unique.
Thank you to all the people who have sent in submissions. I’ll be comping people this weekend. I’ll also say that we’re likely to have several articles in March now with new authors. :)
Hmmm wondering how you’d feel about an(almost) septuagenarian singer who loves sharing hard earned wisdom
