An anecdote: two weeks ago I was buying soy milk at a grocery store. A man was on the phone to his wife, with a carton of drink in his hand. She had decreed that he had to buy Canadian products. He had sent her a picture of the drink's info to see if she approved the provenance and he could buy it. Seems insane, now normal.

I LOVE this, people using their personal purchasing power and ethical choices to make a stand. It's one of the many ways we get to a better world 💖

"Essentially what Trump has created is a branding problem for every American producer."

Excellent concise explanation. One that 'ought' to get through to everyone, and especially every US business.

Trump destroyed your brand and your sales - bigly. You could fit it on a bumper sticker. Hope the Democrats do. Or is that too 'rude' for them?

Dude... Democrats couldn't get laid in a whore house... not to be crass about it. But truly... I've never seen such an inept group. :P

Agreed. As a party they resemble cardboard cutout marketing props in a downmarket retail store, but with less dynamism.

There are some individuals who are much better, and the party does its best to suppress and stifle them at every turn.

The proverbial suicidal tendencies of a bunch of lemmings. Infuriating incompetence.

I can imagine a possible future where Trump seriously harms the Republican party, yet they survive, and the Democrats wither away to insignificance due to inaction.

It should not be possible for Trump’s antics to harm the Democrats more than the Republicans (and he is definitely harming them).

I'm beginning to think that there's going to be a split of the Democratic Party of the "leadership" doesn't get it together quick. It'll be the old dinosaur Democratic Party and a real, liberal party with leaders like Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie, Buttigeig, etc.

More likely, folks like AOC and Sanders are being used (whether they realize it or not) as sheepdogs to herd in the "fringe" left and keep them in line to vote blue no matter who. We saw it in 2016 when Bernie caved to Hillary; it's more Status quo bullshit.

Real change has to start at the grassroots level: shool boards, city councils, and the mayor. Kick the establishment Dems to the GOP where they belong, reclaim the Democratic party name and its assets, and build a groundswell for actual left-leaning policy. Demonstrating the benefit of left policies in action will be critical; if there's change at the top but nothing to actually underpin it at the voter level, it'll be DOA.

This is good news if it gets this regime removed ASAP.

This may be a controversial view... but I feel in this regard, Trump is actually doing the world a favour. Many of the US brands owned by the cartels of billionaires are causing harm, to us and the environment... I personally haven't shopped at amazon, in supermarkets or bought branded goods for some time, choosing local, niche providers with ethics and non harmful ingredients instead. There are many great little companies out there.

If we all boycotted the big brand corporations we would stop a good deal of harm and ill health in the world, with the added bonus of collapsing their power base in the economy and returning it to people in local communities.

So from a global harm perspective, I'm actually delighted with Trumps impact 😁

I like to do that too but it is not always easy!

I just read your last post: interesting stuff! It is actually pretty astonishing because your view of the male billionaires perfectly resonates with the book I just started today: “The will to change: men, masculinity, and love” written by Bell Hooks… crazy timing!!

Re the hybridized US flag with the swastika in the field of blue -- Wasn't that used as the US flag in "The Man in the High Castle" television series (alt reality series where Germany defeated US in WW2)?
